Increasingly, the Obama administration's focus for revamping the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) has shifted toward college- and career-readiness.

- "SAT: Orientation, Power Strategies & Core Content"
If SAT was all about reasoning and logic and not about math, the reporting categories on the SAT would be exactly those: Reasoning and Logic. But they're not. The reporting categories on the SAT include:
- Number & Operations
- Algebra & Functions
- Geometry & Measurement
- Data Analysis, Statistics & Probability
While most SAT preparation classes spend time giving practice tests and stressing strategies such as "practice, practice, practice," "be ready the morning of the test", "manage your time efficiently," "be careful," "be smart," "use your calculator wisely," and "use sensible guessing strategies to improve your odds of selecting the correct answer," our SAT preparation classes spend time focusing on the core Algebra content that appears on the math section of the SAT while employing Power Strategies.
For example:
Interpreting data is a core skill that students need to be able to answer some items on the math portion of the SAT correctly. One SAT preparation class introduces students to an Interpreting Data Power Strategy. After teaching the Interpreting Data Power Strategy, the teacher provides guided instruction (tutoring) to ensure the student is interpeting data correctly by using the Interpreting Data Power Strategy. For homework, the student is expected to reinforce what he/she learned about the Interpreting Data Power Strategy by interpreting additional data at home.
The 'soft' strategies such as "practice, practice, practice," "be ready the morning of the test", "manage your time efficiently," "be careful," "be smart," "use your calculator wisely," and "use sensible guessing strategies to improve your odds of selecting the correct answer" are embedded into our SAT preparation program - not the focus of it.
Core Algebra content, studied through the use of Power Strategies, is the focus of our math SAT preparation program.
